About Coach

I started CrossFit in 2014 with a 1-week Groupon pass. After 1 class, I immediately found my new passion! Growing up in Los Angeles, there was always this unspoken pressure about the way a woman is supposed to look. I have a stocky, compact build, and let me tell you, it was nice to finally know what these thick thighs were made for!! I graduated from nursing school in 2012 and worked as an open-heart surgery scrub and circulating nurse for 4 years. I became tired of seeing sick patients and…. taking orders from doctors, so I pursued my master’s degree to become a family nurse practitioner. In 2017, I was accepted to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. I packed up my life in Los Angeles and moved without knowing anyone and without hesitation. I landed on the island on August 1, 2017, and joined CrossFit West Oahu on August 16, 2017. My dream, which I truly thought was never in reach, was to own a CrossFit gym and incorporate preventative health and wellness services. Fast forward 5 years, almost to the date, I am extremely blessed to share ownership of CFWO. I can’t wait to share the amazing plans for this gym and begin to finally mesh my love for fitness and preventative medicine.

Turning Point

As humans, we go through a lot in this life. Everyone’s story is different. We all have our struggles, some more than others. I remember driving in LA traffic on the way home from work one evening and thinking exactly this, “I don’t want to sit in traffic anymore. I am tired of living for the weekends. There must be more I am meant to do”. As dramatic as it sounds, at that moment, I changed my mindset and told myself: I am NOT stuck and I can choose to create a different path at any point in my life. Sometimes it is easier to ignore that voice inside us because it may seem too hard, or just out of reach, or impossible. Just start. That tends to be the hardest part. Starting. You might amaze yourself and realize what you were capable of all along. To sum it up, using my favorite quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald, "I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again."

Motivation & Passion

I believe CrossFit instills confidence, mental toughness, and courage. I enjoy coaching because I love watching the development of an athlete. Sometimes athletes need to be reminded about how far they’ve come and what amazing opportunities lie ahead if they continue to be consistent and disciplined. I love to have fun while coaching, but when the WOD starts, it's time to work!
