About Coach

Not going to pretend I was anything other than a mediocre athlete in high school (Judo, Wrestling)...though someday I hope to become a pro wrestler. I just enjoy the variety and jungle gym-like atmosphere of a CrossFit gym. What is most satisfying for me about coaching is seeing the "lightbulb moments" on people's faces when they figure something out. Watching people gradually gain confidence is also nice.

Turning Point

CrossFit improved my job performance. I have been a bartender since I was 21 years old. And I love it. I always thought that being a bartender would be the thing that made me break out of my shell...but I found out I was wrong. It's a bit of a challenge having issues with confidence while being on a public stage working for tips...I needed something to feel stronger, more attractive, and more confident. Then I saw pictures of the 2011 CrossFit games. But I wasn't impressed with the athletes as much as I was with the crowd. Everybody in the crowd looked like an athlete...and I was fascinated...then I heard it was brutal and filled with masochists...and I was sold. As a modality CrossFit seemed incredibly efficient and included so many of the aspects of fitness that interested me. I joined Blue Coast CrossFit soon after. Gradually people noticed I stood taller, spoke louder, and commanded attention a little better. Exactly what I needed...both in my career and my life. That's kinda why I like this. I've got no delusions of grandeur of being the next champ ...but I know people are looking for the thing that makes them like themselves a little more and I wouldn't mind being a part of that.

Motivation & Passion

I like coaching because it made me break out of my shell, hopefully, I can pass that on.
